When avg & enzO shipped Blocktronics_res[v]olution on August 19, 2008, the scene had been declared dead so many times it had stopped paying attention to the obituaries. Blocktronics ignored the consensus. It was the first scene group with a Web 2.0 strategy include Myspace, Facebook, DeviantArt, YouTube, Google Groups, all in the founding pack. What started as two people snowballed into the modern era's flagship. By the 2013 ACiD Trip joint pack including "the world's longest ANSI art," 3,266 lines tall, 23 artists from six countries, first place at Demosplash 2013, Blocktronics had reactivated ACiD (RaD Man drew his first ANSI since acid-100 ten years earlier), and become the institutional center of gravity for whatever the scene was going to be next. By 2014 their WTF4 megajoint hit 4,636 lines, won Evoke, and surpassed ACiD Trip's record.The roster expanded into a who's who: Filth, Misfit, TCF, ZeroVision, Skypager, Lord Scarlet (who runs sixteencolors.net), aesthetic, maytag, ansichrist, jack phlash, Catbones, Tasmaniac, Otium, h7, Alpha King, Pandur, ETO (the PabloDraw author), Eerie, Andy Herbert (who built Moebius). Blocktronics is the proof that the scene didn't die it just had to wait for the right group to take social media seriously and treat ANSI as a medium worth modernizing tooling for.
