FUEL (fuel)

Founded December 1994 by Brainbreaker, Ben Hurry, and Super Droopy as an adaptation of a former Commodore 64 group, Fuel grew through 1995 with The Knight running ANSi and Deep Freezer leading demos, picked up Biotic Pain in March, ran a member sweep in April and another in October, and absorbed Cow in January 1996. The big move came in February 1996 as Fuel became iCE's European division, locking in HQ network across Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, France, Sweden, Russia, Brazil, Argentina, and beyond. Through 1997 leadership shifted to Thrashie with Zeus II as ANSI head. By 1998 the cadence was still strong. Then the long fade: fuel21-24 didn't appear until 2017, a 19-year revival year. Fuel's 2017 revival pack fuel21 brought back Luminator, Propane, Pinguino Kolb, Burps, Necrofiliac. The 20th anniversary fuel22 reflected on the comeback. fuel23 in September 2017 made jokes about merging with BUTTRAiDERZ and declared war on AMSHiT (AMiSH). By 2018 Fuel was on a quarterly cadence with new members (Dieznyik, Stone the Crow, Somms, Chromatik, eventually Quip, Warpus, and others) and dual-affiliated with most of the modern scene. Fuel is the rare group whose revival arc is more interesting than its original run and proof that the 1990s scene's social bonds outlasted the medium's first death by twenty years.
