The Avenge Cult (avenge)

When ACiD spun off its ANSI division in April 1997, the inheritor was Avenge, first packaged as "The Avenge Cult" with WhiteTrash on writing, Creator and Napalm Death editing. Cult-themed lore ran through the early NFOs (Tourettes syndrome, the High Priest, the works), and the monthly pack series kept a strict first-of-the-month cadence. By March 1998 a leadership coup had pushed WhiteTrash out and installed Creator, Zeus II, and SdnDeath as a triumvirate. Orphic was building a custom drawing program called Cultdraw, framed as "the official drawing program of The Avenge Cult." By Dec 1998 there were public scandals about ZeroV being "talked into leaving" for Lore, the kind of senior-staff turf war that you only get when a group is popular. May 1999's avenge16 was the final pack. Zeus II's NFO was blunt: "I never want to see any so-called revivals." The end of ACiD's official ANSi inheritor line ran its course. After Avenge, ACiD effectively gave up on ANSI for a decade.
