Probably due to the then-resurgence in the Star Wars franchise, Mistigris has
been releasing science fiction-themed artpacks annually in the month of May
since 2018. We try to avoid establishing traditions but once we find we have
them, it is easy to become ensnared by them, trapped in a nostalgic routine
as in Bradburys short story There will come soft rains, set in the year
2026! We werent sure that wed have enough collective mojo to get a SF
pack together so soon after expending ourselves putting MIST0426 together,
but there was some interest and so we planned to cook this artpack up through
April and May and drop it before the month turned to June. However, as we
got deeper into May, it became apparent that the release wasnt going to be
ready for launch by then, and we had to come up with an alternate plan.
To make a long story short, we arranged to sequester Mists artists, cooping
them up in a small spacecraft, and using a special proprietary technology we
simply yeeted them into deep space at the speed of light. Problem solved!
They must have encountered a rogue wormhole or something out there in the
great unknown because somehow they have returned to Earth with a finished
artpack. It is them, right? The book Annihilation also takes place in
2026. But, and heres the weird thing, according to their reported
experience and data from the timepieces and measuring instruments they
traveled with, to them it is still the month of May, even though to everyone
down here on terra firma we are definitely well into June. Just how long
were they travelling for? And how fast were they going, anyway? How did
they overcome momentum transfer at Planck level and the geometric rules of
Minkowski spacetime? Oh, I dont want to bore you with the details.
Suffice it to say, the pertinent equations cant entirely be represented
solely using characters from code page 437, but they involve the seventeenth
colour.
In conclusion, we hope that you enjoy this science fiction-themed MIST0526
artpack! It seems we had to break a few fundamental laws of the cosmos in
order to get it made on time, so probably this marks the end of our annual
spree we might even call it Twilights Last Gleaming, but we surely had a
lot of fun doing it is he talking about making the pack or breaking the
fundamental laws of the cosmos? Why not both! The important thing is: quite
a bit more fun than anything in the Parable of the Sower, set in the year
2026, so who knows what the future holds?
It wasnt really clear to us whether we had an artpack at all until The Green
Herring forced the issue with some livestreamed studies, which we were then
note: as we have already established, none of the sequence described in this
infofile can be considered reliable, for time travel reasons able to bolster
and supplement with some solid contributions from Zeus II, MC Fresher, Nitron
and ... gosh, I wonder if Cthulu somehow went back in time even further, I
dont know if he even realises were not still working on MIST0426, I see
hes still drawing book covers! Nice Metropolis though -- also set in 2026!
Either way, thanks to him for the FILEID and infofile header art in this
artpack. And thanks to you all for keeping up with us -- we dont always make
it easy! See you soon, by which I mean see you in what the people of the
