Circe Argentina (circe)

The Spanish-language scene's anchor. Founded 1997 with a core out of Argentina, Circe ran from 1997 to early 2002 with a small but committed roster. The high point came at The Flash 98 demo party, where Circe took 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th in ANSi compo, 2nd in ASCII, and 1st in Hi-Res. That's the kind of regional dominance that only happens when a group has the local scene to itself. By Circe #7 they were running a 10-member tight ship; by Circe #8 (Jan 2002), Arlequin was writing the farewell: "this is the last pack of circe, hope you enjoy it... no participating members." Though, Circe #8 did arrive in 2002. Arlequin migrated to Remorse and SAC, became one of the durable Argentine voices through the late 2000s. Circe's contribution to the scene was less about peak output (steady but never huge) and more about being the visible face of the Spanish-language ANSi community for half a decade, a function nobody else was filling.
