CaNCeR Productions (cancer)

When founder Ear shut down CaNCeR plus the Castle of Darkness BBS on June 30, 1995, the goodbye NFO read like a manifesto: "We are gone... no more. No less. No art, no more." The cited reasons were grim: declining group activity, but more fundamentally a sense that "the art scene has changed, it's time we all realize that art has gone down the tubes and that what we need a -REVOLUTION-." CaNCeR's pre-dissolution output was real: 139 pieces in 1995 alone, with notable contributors Lord Jazz, Cidica (who would jump to Bleach), Burps (also Bleach). A self-described 1994-1995 lifespan, which means the entire group's career fit inside the year when the scene's monthly volume peaked and then someone in charge looked around and decided it wasn't worth doing anymore.
