Funding for his army was coming in from multiple sources. Pancho Villa formed the Division del Norte and
invested in it creating the largest
and most modern army in the country. He rebuilt the railway and used it to transport his troops.
He defeated the federal army
many times. Carranza became
jealous of Villas success and ordered Villa to attack low
value cities or to not be
present personally during
battles, so he would not
increase in fame.
Pancho Villa resigned taking
most of the revolutionary
generals with him.
