This newsletter is public property, that means anyone is free to send
articles, news and others for posting! I would appreciate it even. Im only
putting the pieces together. Its our scene! lets make things happen...
Little correction to last weeks issue: date was 6 OCTOBER 1998 and
further down on the charts it was because september was over and not august.
I was a little confused on the months apparently!
For this issue we have a 1 hour interview with sol/trauma and thats
pretty much it! Adok also sent some news so you can see him take over Daves
news section. hehe
BTW- It was Adoks birthday last week in case you havent noticed on

spreader and coder. He comes from Norway and is also the president of

Hugi Logo Competition!
The IRC channel pixel http://www.pixel.scene.org is organizing a Hugi
logo competition. You have to draw either a title or a closing picture

First of all a scene-meeting will be organized in November in the
Netherlands called the Nederkomst. Its not a real demoparty, but more
of a boozing party where you can meet your friends. People can go

SolHSA most people seem to know me as Sol of Trauma.. my real name is
Jari Komppa.
SolHSA Im 23 years old, and well.. working as a web designer currently.
PsychicS and for the people who have been in cryogenic sleep for at least
3 years, what do you do scene-wise?
SolHSA Im responsible for at least the dee musicdisk interface hors,
some invitation demos.. textmode demo compos third one starting
tomorrow or so actually..
SolHSA additionally Ive been leading trauma demo projects, mindtrap from
army and gateways as a full-day job..
SolHSA ..as I couldnt find a summerjob this summer.
PsychicS in gateways you wrote you probably wouldnt do such a big project
ever again... was that in the heat of the moment or does it still
stand?
SolHSA wellll..
SolHSA I cant promise anything, but we have some grandiloquent ideas
again..

SolHSA ..as I wrote in the text, we all have too many real life things
going on, so we really cant get anything serious done to tp98.

SolHSA The first party I was at was Mega-Leif Convention in uppsala,
sweeden..

SolHSA If I recall right, it was a 4-day party.. or 5..
SolHSA anyway, its kinda hazy as I didnt eat enough and drank too much
coke seriously! I dont drink any alcohol or do drugs..

an auditorium with a monitor..

released there..

been done before. textmode has always been thought as a beginners
media except that todays beginners dont even know it exists, I
guess..
SolHSA and take a pII/300 and try to use its processing power completely
while rendering to textmode.. and make it look good. thats what
Im after.

SolHSA We dont have too many graphicians as you know.. so its painful
that we cannot get everything done by real graphicians..
SolHSA Also, excel hi there! is sweedish and thus we have slight
communication problems from time to time

SolHSA Well, I *really* dont rank myself as one of the best coders..

project guidelines interfaces c has been set..

Gateways by Trauma
And the list goes like this: Sol, Tonic, Tremor, !Cube, Nitro, Excel,
Teque, Spector, void and Assassin.
Winner of Assembly98 democompo. What can i write... Its nothing fancy
but it does look great! Mainly 3D scenes with some rather good scenes here and
there!
The music is very good. The graphics, although not bountifull are also
very pleasant to the eye.
Code and design are definitly the key ingredients that made this one
triumph at assembly. On code, special mention to the very nice 3D fractal at
the end! And on design, attention to the retin scanner effect! Very nice
indeed.
Thats about it! There is nothing wrong with this demo, it just lacks
a certain something in my opinion... But what do i know? :

Nice graphics from tmk. A small texture. A little tune. Some coding
experience and we have ourselves a new intro!
Mostly grayscaled pallete. Yet this one has something that grabbed my
attention. Maybe its just because i have been testing some similar effects!
Anyways... Nice intro. Go get it if you own a GUS.

dope hardstep track - renegade-bassline, overdriven but nevertheless
tricky drumloops most of which familiar, though and a unique way of using
the jungle-warfare-strings.. though the other tracks in the archive suck
compared to this one, its nevertheless worth the download imho !..
or as teis the mvp organizer would say :
last but not least the phat A side wich we come atchya with our fellahz
mad-e and fanu bringin you some real fine ass hardstep to yo damn house
starting with a dark bassline and scary sounds .. continueing with douph
beatz, filled up with nice strings. and yes, at almost the end the both
come up with really nice string melodies makin this track to some weird
thought bout upthere.. ... mad-en fanu, tell me, whats up there!!!
hmm vims newest release on mono is also definitely worth a listen, btw..

About:
Coding
Objective:
To make a small executable file that does the following:
1. Loads a chosen demojournal text file numbers 7 or 8 only
2. Scans the file until it comes to the demosceners list
3. Counts number of sceners
4. Makes all statistical remarks anyone can imagine on that list.
5. Saves all statistics to a txt file 80*50 MAX
Limitations:
Final ascii file must be within 80*50 format!
Observations:
Source code not required. :
Size of the executable is not an issue. Size of output file is!
The bigger number of statistical remarks the better.
Dont forget to have a small remark on who coded it on the output file
Judging:
All entries will be tested and then the output file will be judged
based on the following:
-size/content
-statistical information
-Layout
Prize:
World recognition! Plus you help me have a nice statistical output
on future issues of demojournal with your name on it.

I am tired of writing! I am out of topic! I keep deleting what i have
just written!
So this is what i am writing and i aint gonna delete it!
Beeing a writer sucks! Everyone miss-understand what your point is,
when you actually do have a point. Mostly it just ends up in a lot of lines
babbling about some stupid subject you feel bad reading back...
Why the hell should it be a point in the first place? Cant we just
write whatever we feel like writting and thats it? Either way, there is
always someone who will read the text and think you are an idiot. I guess the
trial is to have more people thinking you are wise and intelegent than people
thinking your a stupid ass-hole. No wonder so many people dont like writing!
Writing always gets you into trouble... Its like beeing on a room
full of people and someone asks you about your opinion. There is no possible
way you can say something that will please everyone. So you normally go for
the answer that pleases the people who are closest to you... What if thats
not possible? What if you have 2 friends, one likes eating lobsters and the
other one thinks its stupid? What to do? Just say whatever you are thinking
about...

active writters. On the other, we now have people having problems with each
other! ARGH!
Lets be radical... No writters whatsoever! Back to the days where
reading and writing was only for the rich and powerfull! But, that means that
the rich and powerfull would get into trouble with each other, dragging the
lower class into their personal problems.
Then, no writing whatsoever! There is no alphabet! Wait, what about
people who talk. And we all know how old ladies are like... You seen what
that other woman did? Oh my god... I have never... BLA BLA BLA
What then? What is the answer? What happens to freedom of speach?
Very complicated indeed!
Oh well, all this just to say that i am tired of writing articles,
so will Adok soon, and Ezah and Furball and Programmer and all other editors
of diskmags! Why the hell wont YOU write for a change?!?!?

3 years, what do you do scene-wise?

some invitation demos.. textmode demo compos third one starting
tomorrow or so actually..
SolHSA additionally Ive been leading trauma demo projects, mindtrap from
army and gateways as a full-day job..

Gateways by Trauma
And the list goes like this: Sol, Tonic, Tremor, !Cube, Nitro, Excel,
Teque, Spector, void and Assassin.
Winner of Assembly98 democompo. What can i write... Its nothing fancy
but it does look great! Mainly 3D scenes with some rather good scenes here and
there!
The music is very good. The graphics, although not bountifull are also
very pleasant to the eye.
Code and design are definitly the key ingredients that made this one
triumph at assembly. On code, special mention to the very nice 3D fractal at
the end! And on design, attention to the retin scanner effect! Very nice
indeed.
Thats about it! There is nothing wrong with this demo, it just lacks
a certain something in my opinion... But what do i know? :

Nice graphics from tmk. A small texture. A little tune. Some coding
experience and we have ourselves a new intro!
Mostly grayscaled pallete. Yet this one has something that grabbed my
attention. Maybe its just because i have been testing some similar effects!
Anyways... Nice intro. Go get it if you own a GUS.

tricky drumloops most of which familiar, though and a unique way of using
the jungle-warfare-strings.. though the other tracks in the archive suck
compared to this one, its nevertheless worth the download imho !..

last but not least the phat A side wich we come atchya with our fellahz
mad-e and fanu bringin you some real fine ass hardstep to yo damn house
starting with a dark bassline and scary sounds .. continueing with douph
beatz, filled up with nice strings. and yes, at almost the end the both
come up with really nice string melodies makin this track to some weird
thought bout upthere.. ... mad-en fanu, tell me, whats up there!!!
hmm vims newest release on mono is also definitely worth a listen, btw..

About:
Coding
Objective:
To make a small executable file that does the following:
1. Loads a chosen demojournal text file numbers 7 or 8 only
2. Scans the file until it comes to the demosceners list
3. Counts number of sceners
4. Makes all statistical remarks anyone can imagine on that list.
5. Saves all statistics to a txt file 80*50 MAX
Limitations:
Final ascii file must be within 80*50 format!
Observations:
Source code not required. :
Size of the executable is not an issue. Size of output file is!
The bigger number of statistical remarks the better.
Dont forget to have a small remark on who coded it on the output file
Judging:
All entries will be tested and then the output file will be judged
based on the following:

-statistical information
-Layout

So this is what i am writing and i aint gonna delete it!
Beeing a writer sucks! Everyone miss-understand what your point is,
when you actually do have a point. Mostly it just ends up in a lot of lines
babbling about some stupid subject you feel bad reading back...
Why the hell should it be a point in the first place? Cant we just
write whatever we feel like writting and thats it? Either way, there is
always someone who will read the text and think you are an idiot. I guess the
trial is to have more people thinking you are wise and intelegent than people
thinking your a stupid ass-hole. No wonder so many people dont like writing!
Writing always gets you into trouble... Its like beeing on a room
full of people and someone asks you about your opinion. There is no possible
way you can say something that will please everyone. So you normally go for
the answer that pleases the people who are closest to you... What if thats
not possible? What if you have 2 friends, one likes eating lobsters and the
other one thinks its stupid? What to do? Just say whatever you are thinking
about...

friend 1 Give me one! They are so juicy!
friend 2 You know... that think once lived! Its disgusting!
you I! I! Can i go to the bathroom?
Can you go to the bathroom?!?!? What the hell is wrong with you?
Either eat that bloody lobster or say no thanks! Dont run of into the
bathroom! You are an irresponsible person! Shame on you!
you I mean... I... I dont know...
You dont know?!?! What you mean you dont know? You want one of those
tasty red things or are you going to sit on that chair looking at the little
man forever?

What? What about your friend 2? Hes going to think your doing it on
purpose to make him look bad!

Even worse! Indecision! When you choose to do something you should go
for it, not leave it halfways! Now you must double apologize and eat the thing!

See what i mean? Problems and more problems! So many fucking problems!
Why cant we all just write whatever we feel like writing and live happy ever
after? Wait... In that case, most people would write about how they didnt like
reading what others have written and so we would have even more people writing!
Now think for a moment! Is that good or bad? On one hand we have more
active writters. On the other, we now have people having problems with each
other! ARGH!
Lets be radical... No writters whatsoever! Back to the days where
reading and writing was only for the rich and powerfull! But, that means that
the rich and powerfull would get into trouble with each other, dragging the
lower class into their personal problems.
Then, no writing whatsoever! There is no alphabet! Wait, what about
people who talk. And we all know how old ladies are like... You seen what
that other woman did? Oh my god... I have never... BLA BLA BLA
What then? What is the answer? What happens to freedom of speach?
Very complicated indeed!
Oh well, all this just to say that i am tired of writing articles,
so will Adok soon, and Ezah and Furball and Programmer and all other editors
of diskmags! Why the hell wont YOU write for a change?!?!?
