24 WWIV Guy
Zzyzx has been up as long as Ive been calling boards. Running WWIV with a
14400 modem isnt exactly up to date, but at least its still up
The menus and commands on the bbs arent your typical wildcat or renegade
system, theyll take a bit of getting used to. Keep in mind, the pause prompt
on the file menu...That takes a bit of getting used to also. Hes got a few
door games, not too many, messages all are local, and not very used. Its
pretty dead in there, has been for a while. Files, hes got Japanese Anime,
midi files, original ones done by the users as well as mainstream music. Hes
even got pix of the users...The ansis could use a bit of change, skulls are a
bit dated...and the pause prompts on the menus can really mess a person up.
Guy is a nice person, and will help ya out if you need it. Worth a call,
especially if yer looking for some original midis or jap anime.

24 Wildcat ???
A typical Wildcat system. Not much to say, they all look pretty much the same. es done some ok ansis, it looks a bit different than the General did. Local
messages along with some fidonet stuff, a few old door games, 3 different
versions of lord. Files, typical shareware, stuff you find on the Night Owl
CDs. Running a 28.8 Modem, its ok, its pretty much the same as Gone to the
Dogs, and a smaller version of what the General BBS was. If you like old
shareware, old games, and few message areas, this is the place to call. wildcat software has always been notorious for the ease of use from the users end, so
its easy to get around on. I dont know about the Op, he doesnt answer his
mail.

Metal Edge 619-423-4970 24/7 Iniquity Precious Metal
This is a board that you will definitely call more than once! You
dont have to be in music to like this board. Although it does offer
quite an extensive file base dedicated to music files, such as MP3s,
Tablatures, and the like. The board looks spiffy, and menus change
frequently, being that Precious Metal draws them frequently in her
spare time. The messages are kicking, and everything is pretty much
on topic. This is a bbs that you will definitely want to give a try,
because after that youll be calling it all the time. This board
also carries MetalNet. Since theres so much to tell about, why dont
you call and check it out for yourself! If you have any problems, the
Op of this board will be happy to assist you!

BiLs Board 619-593-9155 24/7 Renegade BiL
This board has been around off and on, ever since I can remember.
The SysOp, BiL was up to 4 lines at one time, but I believe its only
2 or 3 lines now. I guess BiL doesnt believe in anything above
14.4 although Im quite sure he can afford it. Unfortunately your
account expires after 90 days if you dont donate. The message bases
are slow, and contain the usual topics found on most bbses. It appears
that he has 7 cd rom discs online, although Im convinced I dont have
complete access to everything. Many of the users on this bbs are
older, average age appears to be about 35. **

When I got on this board the first thing I noticed was the lack of
ansis. Not that every bbs has to have them, it just makes them more
interesting to look at. The software that the sysop is running is Virtual
Advanced v1.30. The commands are pretty typical so its fairly easy to figure
out. Getting around wasnt difficult until I tryed to change message bases.
Then I had a problem getting it to come up with a different message area.
The files on there are updated all the time and are listed by year. That, I
thought was very nice cuz I could see the newest ones without having to
search. the thing that I really didnt like was the lack of ansi art. Thats
what makes a bbs personal to me and shows the personality of the sysop.
There were some different games to play like BBS Chess and BBS Race, but
dont plan on playing LORD there cuz he aint got it.You can play BRE though.
All in all I think Superbyte is well worth calling but it could use some
improvement.

This is a BBS that must be for the very technical in nature. There
are no ansis, only one ascii, and no door games at all. Its not a board for
entertainment. The sysop is very friendly and helpful and actually answers
messages but the files and public messages are utility oriented only. No
fun stuff. The software is called DLG-BBS/OS and is a little confusing at
first but can be figured out with a little work. There are some virus and
compression programs that you can download along with the software utilities
for that board. I guess ya gotta be into Amiga computer systems to get the
full benefit of this board. Absolutely no frills here, just info on Amiga.
