Alien Industries (alien industries)

A December 1999 Ukrainian outfit founded as a hacking group that expanded into ASCII and demos. The roster operated out of Kiev with a manifesto explicitly hostile to scene politics: "We don't intend to release a few intros and die. We've came to stay, like it or not." They came. They didn't quite stay. But the Kiev scene infrastructure was real and Alien Industries belongs to that brief late-'90s window when the post-Soviet scene was reinventing itself with a hacker-collective ethos rather than the warez-adjacent one that had defined the Russian groups before.
