Cyber Data Issue 03 - Cybernarys Views
and Perspectives
2nd union edition - april/may of
1995
Well here I am again, back for another dose of stupidity and much
more
time wasting phun phun phun! Cyber Data issue 03, surprisingly I have bee
n
recieving alot of feedback on the idea of Cyber Data and some of the t
hings I
discuss in this, my little text file of information and phun. So hope
fully I
shall make Cyber Data not only a monthly column in every Union pack, b
ut also I
will include it in every issue of the upcoming Union Productions sponsored
emag
I am working on entitled INSURGENCE MAGAZINEtm. I appreciate everyones
show
of support for this idea, and thank you for your words of confidence.
I have originally intended to discuss how to successfully run a ar
t
group in todays scene, but I have decided against focusing the entire
article
on this subject. Instead I shall give some brief points to go by when
running
a group : They are:
1 Keep the senior staff/group leaders small. Do
not make half
the members in the group a senior staff member! Only select
the hardest working, most qualified people that have the time
and energy needed to help run the group. Creating ansi is one
thing, but running a group is alot harder to do if you want
to be successful at it!
2 RIPPING! If you find someone in your group tha
t is/has RIPPED
any artwork at anytime NO MATTER WHEN, you should expell th
em
from the group right away and not allow them to join back in.
It will give your group a bad name and reputation if you have
been affiliated with an ansi ripper, and most likely they will
rip again.
3 Sites/Distrobution Sites/HQs/Etc. Do not let
everyone and
their brother have a site. Select a few boards that are very
good systems and allow them to be a distrobution site. Another
EXCELLENT method is having a World Headquarters, Canadian HQ
American HQ, and then JUST member boards ie. NO DISTRO SITES
If you want to be smart, just use the HQ system and then
use the INTERNET to help spread your pack. Distro sites are
bullshit, they are mostly just an affil that the sysop wants.
4 Keep it SMALL, dont go overboard with members.
If possible,
you could just accept ANSI artists at first and grow from the
re.
Too many members creates a communications problem, which also
causes members to become unhappy and leave. Keeping it small
will allow the group to grow together as one, and get better
hopefully with each new art pack release.
5 Dont worry about releasing a large pack the fi
rst time you
release on the first month. It may be good to release an
informational packet when the group first forms, or instead
of a full pack on the first month. Announcing the formation
of the group, who is involved, were to contact you, and just
general information about the group. If you do this, it will
will ensure a better pack when you release your first full art
pack.
6 Above have fun! Lots of fun! So much fun that
you have fun
coming out of your ass! And remember never to rag on an arti
st
if he leaves your group see CyberData issue 01, cy-cd01.ans.
Okay so it those pointers took up a little bit more space then I h
ad
originally intended, bite me its my info file! : Anyway back to what
I was
going to talk about before I was so rudely interrupted by that babble
I typed
in the above text. Last month was extremely good for Union, we came b
ack with
a decent pack after an etremely chaotic month for us with all that was
going
on. Spastic released a cool pack, overall I thought it was a decent p
ack for
a new group, ALOT better then the debuts of other new groups, I wish t
hem well.
ACiD in my opinion released a very dissapointing pack, why the hell do I wa
nt
to download a 2meg pack for about what 10 ansis? Okay the CAT vgas k
ick ass!
I was extremely dissapointed by the ansis though, not there normal mix
. iCE
released a cool pack, I was impressed. Toon Goon showed he is the kin
g of
toon ansis, and with the edition of Magnetic M they have some of the b
est toon
artists around, How about a iCE TOON STUDIOS pack, eh? id love to see
that!.
Shiver released a well, Shiver pack. Maestro released his debut solo
pack
which I liked alot, Bleached released a dissapointing first and last p
ack, lD!
released his solo pack which I also liked alot I LOVE DIVE!, and tha
ts about
all I can remember! I looked at so many this month, but those are the
main
highlights. Heres an idea for iCE and ACiD, how about releasing the V
GAs in a
seperate pack if the pack is going to be 2+ megs? iCE already basicall
y does
this having mainly ansi in one zip, and vGA in another, but ACiD jus
t goes
ahead and releases it all in a 5 gazillion meg zip file what if we wa
nted to
store it on disk, eh? atleast with iCE you can.. How about releasing
ALL the
ansi in ony archive, and all the VGA/RIP in the other? I know there a
re alot
of people out there that dont feel like downloading a 2+meg pack only
to find
out they wasted their time because 1 there wasnt much ansi, and 2 th
e ansi
wasnt exactley the greatest anyway.
Well that is going to about rap it up for this edition of my lil rant
ing and
raving article, CYBER DATA. Stay tuned next month when we bring you m
ore fun
and exciting phood, pholks, and phun phun phun!

al Greets to Union 1995
NailZ - Thanks for finally putting me in the
memberlist as a cofounder!
of Union Some certain dictators wouldnt do it, ahhh
well hehe. You
kick ass at ansi man, keep up the good work and I am VERY glad
you have come out of retirement even though we know the true
reason why you werent able to help the group out as much a
s you
wanted too because of a certain person to take the group over!
The Wizard - Im glad you dont hold any hard fee
lings towards me, you have
of Spastic a great attitude towards the scene yourself Scott, and I
wish
there were more group leaders such as yourself and NailZ ou
t in
the scene rather then so many egotistical assholes! I hope the
group does well and ill keep in touch.
Cash - Gee think you did enough ansis for t
hat March pack? g Id
of Union like to give you some constructive critism, instead of m
aking
so many small 25 line ansis, why not just make a couple VERY
long ansis such as that nice CHAIN ansi you started? I know
you get alot of requests but you dont have to do them all, you
could always just do them for friends/etc. A couple really nice
long ansis are always better then a million little ones. You
have the talent man! They dont do any justice to your ability.
Eerie - Hey Eerie....., yea, nothing. , He
y Eerie...., yea,
of Spastic nothing. hehehe that was me on the conferen
ce by the way g
You kick ass man, DO ME AN ANSi again! I want one of you
r
chick ansis! I hope everything works out with you and Spastic
you run a great group.
Lord Jazz - Your first solo pack was cool man, DIVE
is great. I have only
of DIVE?! one complaint g the artwork is great, the story is grea
t, but
you think you could make it a little bit easier to read the
dialouge g? OTHER THEN THAT YOU KICK ASS MAN!
Chromatik - I dont know you man, but you sure have i
mproved alot! I have
of BLA! followed you from your start with Blade and you are kickin
g some
ass! How about an ansi for a fan? g for my board Cyber Force
i know i know, your too busy. One question? Why did you leave
Blade? You seemed like a percect match, ahhh well if its makes
you happy, more power to you man
Group greetings go out to the following: ALL OF UNION PRODUCTIONS, and
all of
Spastic Studios your a great group of guys!, BLADE you guys sure ha
ve come

, MAESTRO
I would just now like to give a big phat welcome back to my person
al
favorite of all time ansi artist ever, LIQUID IMAGE. He has retur
ned
to the scene with DARK under the name SILICON GRAPHICS. He is the
main
