If youre not listed above, but in the group, you either havent been
around for long enough, or youre affiliated with Legacy Krew, or both.
Impure had an impact on me in my formative years, beyond just art and the
scene due to my long standing acquaintance with hellbeard - going back to
local BBS days. Although we are, if not polar opposites, then at least
different enough to make working together a straining exercise.
Last year I finally called it quits - after years on, off and around the
group. I thought when the opportunity came around to contribute to this
new group, that I ought to make a tribute to the one I departed from
its not that I think that the medium of ASCII art has been exhausted
or lost its appeal, but due to circumstances surrounding the group, as
many are surely aware.
Where we are today is a result of choices made in the past. Impure is
heavily weighed down by its history. Roots are not easily uprooted.
Yet sometimes you need a breath of fresh air. A change of scenery.
And maybe what appears to be a clean slate? Perhaps you think Im trying
to make light of the situation.
Fresh breath of air, I say? While Legacy Krew hit with its first pack
towards the end of last year, I dont know for how long people will keep
doing archaic art like this. I will likely return time and time again -
if not to draw, then to reminisce. Its a futile endeavour to attempt to
fully escape the past. What can be done about it, and is it a problem?
I dont know.
