The men ran, their feet pounding on the leaf-covered ground. Cold sweat ran down their faces, as fear pushed them beyond their limit. They dared not look back at the things persuing them. From behind they heard an ear piercing cry. The sound was so horrible that one of the men fell to his knees, covering his ears and screaming in mercy. The other kept running, not even glancing back as they heard the man's scream cut off, replaced by violent ripping noises and shouts of demonic glee. Suddenly, the men entered a clearing. The moonlight glowed upon this distant place, the beauty of it causing the men to slow and finally stop. As the first of the demons entered the clearing, blue fire immediately engulfed it. The more that entered, the more that perished in the flames. "You are safe from the outside world," a soft, comforting voice announced to the men. "You may stay here for only a short while, then you must return to your world of horror and sorrow. But for now, this place is your SANCTUARY!" Creeping Death [CHAOS CT] '93
