(other people call that sponsoring btw) [editor: *lol* :)] oh well i will take this opportunity then :) takeover will be held in the university of technology in eindhoven in the south of the netherlands date: 4-5-6 june for more information look at our hightech website: www.takeover.nl :-) btw, i am not one of the main organizers i will just do some compos <|ps|> gday: so how did you got started on this demoscene biz? well... i have been tracking since 1993, but i didn't hear anything of a socalled scene until 1995 that's when i saw 2nd reality.. i think that's the demo most sceners saw first :) well even then i didn't realise there was some scene so i just continued tracking until i bought myself a modem late 1995 <|ps|> and you saw the light! :D that's when i started calling bbs's and i downloaded some prods :) exactly! i got to know people and i called a bbs here in our own town, weert i got in contact with quad which had been formed a few months before that and suprisingly, most of the members were in the same school as I was so we already knew eachother a bit <|ps|> how old were you by then? i was 17 even now 6 people of quad live in the same town <|ps|> how many ppl are in quad? since a few days we have 12 members. our dear coder inopia just left quad <|ps|> why did he do that? inopia wanted to use hardware acceleration but sarix and sagacity, the other coders don't want that so he thought it was best for him to leave us although we still are good friends there hasn't been any fight whatsoever <|ps|> i see. what was the first party you ever attended? my very first party has been bizarre96. that was the 2nd party for quad as a group we released a demo called perception.. it got 6th if I can recall well <|ps|> tell us about the party itself. how was it like? oh.. well.. it was a 2day party and i only visited the 2nd day so all i got to do was watching the demo compo and then waiting for results but many people say it was one of the best parties ever held in the netherlands <|ps|> why werent you there for the 2 days? actually i don't remember... :) i think it had to do with the fact that i could travel along with another quadmember at sunday <|ps|> humm so are you ready for demojournal top-quiz? ehr.. what do you mean? :) top-quiz? [editor: your about to be slaughtered babe! :)] <|ps|> gday: whats the capital of madagascar? ehr... :) stockhoml! <|ps|> gday: how big are the netherlands? the netherlands is about 34000 square miles 16million inhabitants :) <|ps|> gday: how many members where in the future crew? 7? cumulatively? ehr.. :)).. i have to think now! that sucks! :) <|ps|> gday: whats the most southern point of the galaxy? (trick question) erh.. there is no south in galaxy no up nor down no east nor west <|ps|> gday: whats f'(x) of f(x)=3/2x^4+2x-sin(x) ? 6x^3+2+cos(x) or something like that :) <|ps|> do me a scene trivia question for next question of the week im out of inspiration :P haha ;-) was that right? that answer? ;-) i am no king in maths :) <|ps|> no, the sinus was wrong haha i was afraid for that <|ps|> sin'<=>cos ; cos'<=>-sin :) ghehe.. ok :) i forgot i am no coder :) <|ps|> help me with the trivia question for this week! :) ehr.. let me think.. <|ps|> so think! :) what is that little muppet called in those new levis commercials from staprest? <|ps|> bahahaha :P why is he using your domain for homepage? haha... oh well flateric.quad98.net is done by a friend of skin he is in the same school as we (I, skin, sarix, sagacity) are <|ps|> and why is it used on the levis commercials? ehr because all hot chicks want flateric ofcourse! <|ps|> aahhh same with everything on .quad98.net right? :P ghehe ;-) what do you mean? [ed: didnt got that one? :P] <|ps|> all hot chiks want.. :) ehr.. all hot chicks want quad. that's a fact :) <|ps|> :D so what are your favorite demo/intro/coder/gfx/musician? seperate categories? ehr.. let me think state of mind is my favourite although it blew up my monitor 2 months ago :( it wanted to do some modeswitch in the start... and.. *POOF*... no visual :( fortunately i had warranty :-) my favourite intro would be stash i like the tempo in the intro it keeps going and going i don't really have a favourite coder and a graphician and as far as musicians are concerned.... ehrm.. <|ps|> ehrm? i like zodiak's work and keith303's work a lot <|ps|> do you have any question to answer? what do you mean? <|ps|> question to ask yourself! :) oh. why is it that all the girls love me? i don't even know the answer myself :( haha! :) <|ps|> :P wanna do some advert (not sponsor) to yourself and quad before i close the interview then? :) erh as sagacity said in some quad.nfo: "quad - we have explosi...the future has an attitu...oh, never mind." ghehhe :) <|ps|> heheheheheheheh ok i hereby conclude this interview hm ok * |ps| chops g-day's head <|ps|> :) so i can continue wanking erh... webdesigning now :) <|ps|> hehe! :) busy man. l8r and thanks for your time :) hah! that's no problem. see ya Session Close: Sun Mar 28 20:15:27 1999 =====! demo !================================================================== Alchemy by Delabu Alama (party-version) Found at demo.cat.hu Party & ranking: Hmm, this is confusing. I found it under Demo.'99/Flash.'99, but both the info-file & the demo mention Flash 98, and the date of the files is 12-25-98. Anyway, you know where to look for it. A result-file wasn't available yet, but I expect this to be in the top-3. System requirements: Minimum Pentium, better PII. 8MB ram for DOS, 16 for Win9x, 2.7 MB HD. Vesa2 for the 640*480*256-LFB mode. Any midas-supported noise device. The demo: This production from the Mexican group Delabu Alama uses also an hi-rez mode, like Plastic, Radikal and the like, which results automatically in a certain style: no 3D worlds with +10000 faces, no billion layers of effects, but an emphasis on design and good ideas. Meta-cylinders for example, the big brother of our well-known metaballs. Other 3D-objects are less original, I guess everyone has seen a virus or a rubber pilar before, but they still look nice in hi-rez (& fast framerate). The old design-rule "Never show a black screen" is replaced by "Never show a black background", and indeed, even some tv-like snow-lines are better then nothing. The graphic department has no full-screen still pictures, the only hand-drawn art are the little symbols shown during certain part and a logo or two,in addition to the photoshop-backgrounds and a small videoclip from Public Enemy. The music: Again, most of these "stylish" demos seem to have the same style of music: quite electrical, rather slow. Alchemy is no exception, although I must mention the catchy baseline. Few real synchronization between music & effects, expect a variation of the main theme during some effects, and the cool endpart: some text scrolls out of screen, we hear a crash and the screen shakes. Worth the download: If you prefer demos with heavy code, 32-bit color pictures and such, don't bother. Delabu Alama are no demo-experts (they admit their 3D-engine is not-so-cool), but if you want design, go ahead and get it. After all, you've nothing to loose, right :). BTW, it's nice to see there's a demoscene in Mexico and Latin countries. When you read the mags, especially "the scene is dying" articles, you tend to forget there are lots of countries that are just beginning to "computerize", so there's a large potential for new local demoscenes. So check out some productions of new groups, they may be the future. It ended up as number 8. Falcon has done it again, he has made a tune that touches ones emotions. No wonder how he did it this time, when being partly inspired by the gods of intelligent electronics - FSOL - it comes natural. Sit down and listen thru this voyage into fantasy dreamlands. Listen how the small elfs playing with the ice crystals over the frozen lake, is resulting in heavenly harp melodies. So lite and beatiful, so enchanting. Listen and let your mind be enchanted, knowing the elfsong is just the prelude, soon followed by majestic opera performed by the blue opera diva herself! Now I am mainly a model but use as much of my spare time as possible to study." We asked her where she got the energy to be a model and study at the same time. In a mysterious voice, she answered: "I got it from my leisure activities when I was still at highschool. This gave me the happiness and motivation I need for my career." Being asked for details, Sylvia says: "I spent as much time as possible going out with my friends. It makes programming much easier because of its artificial intelligence. You just have to implement the basic concepts, and then the program will do everything for you based on your dialogue with it. In other words, you talk to the intelligent program. And it anticipates your wishes." We asked him where he got the inspiration for this innovation.
