This has been one very moody week for me, so it might reflect on
this issue. I had the though that demojournal was dying after 17.
What happened was that my sceners only contribute to see their name
on the demosceners list theory was correct!!! Even further... With
the move to hotmail and szum taking over for a couple of weeks drove
some more people away. So now i have something new to get people
interested again in demojournal! WHEE! demojournal.planet-d.net
Not much since i had to learn all about html in 2 days. But i
managed to do a homepage for this little newsletter! I hold great
hopes for the homepage... Releasing demojournal live, with the
links on-line, full demosceners list and charts. Until the day comes
you will have to keep on reading my smillies! :
And for those who are still not aware on the hungarian scene, here
are some results from hungarian demopartys!
I was also going through some old demonews and traxweekly issues,
only to realise i am far-far-FAR away from their level!!! I reckon
that if the subscribers increase, so will the articles, both quantity
and quality. Let us wait and see... until then, and although i hate
xmas, merry xmas and happy new year to you all!

orOme My name is Ove Trengereid, and Im a 23 year old norwegian
graphician of some sort. Both 2d and 3d at the present.
PsychicS for those who do not recognize you, where can we find
some of your truecolors...
orOme Heh, on my hard-drive :. Well there is a small, bit out
dated, gallery at gfx-zone. As for demos I had some gfx in
mutha2 by astroidea. Otherwise i dont know where my gfx might
be stored. Unfortunately, Ive not had too many releases, and
so the pics arent well spread. I will try to finish a
homepage soon, with various 2d images, 3d models, and
textures put out. When I can find the time.
PsychicS that might explain why you arent so known...
orOme Yep, well my own fault as well, since ive never really
bothered with releases :

orOme Not much at the moment. Ive basically just finished my
studies, and now Im sort of building up a portfolio of
various 3d stuff as well as 2d images, that I probably will
send to some game company etc. and Ill soon be doing my
first cd cover work. Hopefully that may bring in some extra
side income in the future. But game industry is something i
really want to try out.
PsychicS so your basically just starting to let the world know
about your existence right? You should really have an
homepage... i think it would help a lot!!!
orOme Well. Acutally Im pretty uncertain of which career to aim
for, but something to do with art atleast. Well see what
happens.
PsychicS ok, and scene wise... you plan anything for tp8 or not
really?
orOme Nope, out of the question. I decided to try out tp last year
for the first time, and well, Its an experience worth having
i guess, and lots of cool sceners there i guess, but abit
hopeless to find them, with those facilities. The halls were
terrible. I decided not to watch the demos last year because
of the bad air in hall 1. maybe mekka symphosium next year.

orOme Well.... Would be nice to meet some central europe sceners as
well as just norwegians and swedes at tg :

orOme Well in order to not offend anyone by forgetting them, Ill
mention the guys at pixel/amigascne. and ofcourse ppl in
astroidea/procreation/talent and darkage.
PsychicS ok... you come from amiga? tell us your history...
orOme Amiga yes. bought my amiga600 in -92 and stuck with it until
summer of -95. During that period I was not that active as a
graphician because i was tracking as well. I drew some logos,
and some lo-res 32 colour pictures, that never got released,
with one exception. A rather basic demo called woody, by neo.
I did a woody allen picture in 93 i think, and the demo came
out in 95 : . Ah well, but it was rather fun those days.

PsychicS i wouldnt know! : what programs do you use nowdays?
orOme Mostly fractal design painter for the 2d artwork. abit
photoshop now and then, though I still hate the interface of
that program, even after i managed to learn some of its
benefits. And play around with grafx-2 as well, for some 16
color textures ive been working at. for 3d I use 3dstudio
max 2.5
PsychicS why did you choose those programs?
orOme Well, when a friend of mine showed me painter in -95 Id
never heard of photoshop, but i liked the interface of
painter, so once i found out about photoshop, I still
continued with painter even though i thought a couple of
functions that photoshop had made that program better than
painter. But as for me interface is essential. As for
3dstudio max, A friend of mine knew that prog very well, and
so he could teach me alot about it. I know some people swear
to lightwave, and hate max. And vice versa. But I find
learning goes much quicker if i dont have to read
everything myself, and just have people tell me how things
work :

orOme well......i dont know much about it really. The only scene
contact i have nowadays is pixel and amigascne. and talk
to the ppl there. As for demos etc Ive not watched much of
those:
PsychicS what about diskmags? i seen one of your pics on a gallery
AoG4 i think...
orOme Ah.....well had a couple of pics released in a couple of
amigamags as well, though not read those. If ppl mention a
mag or so that should be read, And i have time to dowload, I
might very well read diskmags, and even watch demos.: Try
atleast to keep up with what gfx is released:

about pixels... what ppl do you like seeing gfx from?
orOme Well. I should mention danny though he quit the scene,
made, lazur, as ive seen several images by them. Also, tmk,
cyclone, nero, ward, kal, beast, peachy have a few really
good pictures that i like. I should say though that I find
images that inspire me more satisfactory, than just good
technical pieces. And there are alot of graphics that I find
inspiring, from artists that are not well known at all :

Competed at the Gathering 98 PC demo compo.
No ranking mentioned, and Im too lazy to look it up :

System requirements:
32 MB ram, 6 MB HD, univbe 5.2 or VESA2 compatible videocard.
The demo:
This is a very well designed demo. It has not a real story, but the
main theme are trains. There are very nice pictures of old
steam-powered locomotives, and the 3D-scenes are at a railway station
and in the train. You can even hear train-whistle and the sound of
the wheels on the rails in the music. This really adds much to the
feeling of the demo. The effects are well-synchronized, and theres
a good mixture between 2D and 3D-effect. Lens flares, blobs, photos
of the Cryonic guys morphing into each other, lots of animated
backgrounds, normal 3D,... Its all in there.
Although the code is not really powerfull, I really like this one
because it has excellent transitions. There is not a single effect
that is just dumped on the screen, its always connected to the rest
of the demo. For example, the demo starts with a pixeled picture of a
train at a station. Then you see some pixels fading to other colors,
but its hard too say what has changed, since you see still the same
train at the same station. Then the camera starts moving and you
realized this was a transition from a picture to a 3D-scene. Really
nice! Clearly these guys from Cryonics have spent much time on the
design.
For all people who think a transition equals a white flash, get
this one. For all other people, get it too if you dont have it,
youll like it!

one big vector world. Although it features some cool polishing. Its

I fell inlove with this tune the first moment i ran shine2 and got
that girl pic from Made thrown at me. Everything felt so right...
It was just one of those moments when you truly realize what the
scene is all about!
The reason i picked this one up is not that though... I was just
roaming through my songs directory and realized there was no radix!!!
So i picked up dreams2 CD and copied all i could find and put some of
them playing. Here is the winner! :

Textmode Democompo 3
Its quite hard to get some idea into peoples heads after they
have chosen to be against it. you cant do anything decent in
textmode turns into its just another gfx mode after seeing a
decent demo in textmode. Thus I dont see any point anymore to try
to change peoples heads. Keep your eyes closed, see if I care..
My view about textmode is that its - really - just another mode,
but one that hasnt been used to its full extent. And this with the
tweaking limits Ive set in TMDC.
TMDC has - and has always had - perhaps too good prizes compared to
the level and number of demos attending. TMDC3 will probably be the
last tmdc if nothing special pops up like java or win NT console
ideas.
In TMDC1 you had to throw your entries by email TMDC2 had a ftp site
that almost worked, TMDC3 has a web site and ftp site with much
more bandwidth. the web upload does not work as I write this but
were looking into it.

This has been one very moody week for me, so it might reflect on
this issue. I had the though that demojournal was dying after 17.
What happened was that my sceners only contribute to see their name
on the demosceners list theory was correct!!! Even further... With
the move to hotmail and szum taking over for a couple of weeks drove
some more people away. So now i have something new to get people
interested again in demojournal! WHEE! demojournal.planet-d.net
Not much since i had to learn all about html in 2 days. But i
managed to do a homepage for this little newsletter! I hold great
hopes for the homepage... Releasing demojournal live, with the
links on-line, full demosceners list and charts. Until the day comes
you will have to keep on reading my smillies! :
And for those who are still not aware on the hungarian scene, here
are some results from hungarian demopartys!
I was also going through some old demonews and traxweekly issues,
only to realise i am far-far-FAR away from their level!!! I reckon
that if the subscribers increase, so will the articles, both quantity
and quality. Let us wait and see... until then, and although i hate
xmas, merry xmas and happy new year to you all!

orOme My name is Ove Trengereid, and Im a 23 year old norwegian
graphician of some sort. Both 2d and 3d at the present.
PsychicS for those who do not recognize you, where can we find
some of your truecolors...
orOme Heh, on my hard-drive :. Well there is a small, bit out
dated, gallery at gfx-zone. As for demos I had some gfx in
mutha2 by astroidea. Otherwise i dont know where my gfx might
be stored. Unfortunately, Ive not had too many releases, and
so the pics arent well spread. I will try to finish a
homepage soon, with various 2d images, 3d models, and
textures put out. When I can find the time.

orOme Yep, well my own fault as well, since ive never really
bothered with releases :

orOme Not much at the moment. Ive basically just finished my
studies, and now Im sort of building up a portfolio of
various 3d stuff as well as 2d images, that I probably will
send to some game company etc. and Ill soon be doing my
first cd cover work. Hopefully that may bring in some extra
side income in the future. But game industry is something i
really want to try out.
PsychicS so your basically just starting to let the world know
about your existence right? You should really have an
homepage... i think it would help a lot!!!
orOme Well. Acutally Im pretty uncertain of which career to aim
for, but something to do with art atleast. Well see what
happens.
PsychicS ok, and scene wise... you plan anything for tp8 or not

orOme Nope, out of the question. I decided to try out tp last year
for the first time, and well, Its an experience worth having
i guess, and lots of cool sceners there i guess, but abit
hopeless to find them, with those facilities. The halls were
terrible. I decided not to watch the demos last year because
of the bad air in hall 1. maybe mekka symphosium next year.

orOme Well in order to not offend anyone by forgetting them, Ill
mention the guys at pixel/amigascne. and ofcourse ppl in
astroidea/procreation/talent and darkage.
PsychicS ok... you come from amiga? tell us your history...
orOme Amiga yes. bought my amiga600 in -92 and stuck with it until
summer of -95. During that period I was not that active as a
graphician because i was tracking as well. I drew some logos,
and some lo-res 32 colour pictures, that never got released,
with one exception. A rather basic demo called woody, by neo.
I did a woody allen picture in 93 i think, and the demo came
out in 95 : . Ah well, but it was rather fun those days.

PsychicS i wouldnt know! : what programs do you use nowdays?
orOme Mostly fractal design painter for the 2d artwork. abit
photoshop now and then, though I still hate the interface of
that program, even after i managed to learn some of its
benefits. And play around with grafx-2 as well, for some 16
color textures ive been working at. for 3d I use 3dstudio
max 2.5
PsychicS why did you choose those programs?
orOme Well, when a friend of mine showed me painter in -95 Id
never heard of photoshop, but i liked the interface of
painter, so once i found out about photoshop, I still
continued with painter even though i thought a couple of
functions that photoshop had made that program better than
painter. But as for me interface is essential. As for
3dstudio max, A friend of mine knew that prog very well, and
so he could teach me alot about it. I know some people swear
to lightwave, and hate max. And vice versa. But I find
learning goes much quicker if i dont have to read
everything myself, and just have people tell me how things
work :

orOme well......i dont know much about it really. The only scene
contact i have nowadays is pixel and amigascne. and talk
to the ppl there. As for demos etc Ive not watched much of
those:
PsychicS what about diskmags? i seen one of your pics on a gallery

orOme Ah.....well had a couple of pics released in a couple of
amigamags as well, though not read those. If ppl mention a
mag or so that should be read, And i have time to dowload, I
might very well read diskmags, and even watch demos.: Try
atleast to keep up with what gfx is released:

orOme Well. I should mention danny though he quit the scene,
made, lazur, as ive seen several images by them. Also, tmk,
cyclone, nero, ward, kal, beast, peachy have a few really
good pictures that i like. I should say though that I find
images that inspire me more satisfactory, than just good
technical pieces. And there are alot of graphics that I find
inspiring, from artists that are not well known at all :

System requirements:
32 MB ram, 6 MB HD, univbe 5.2 or VESA2 compatible videocard.
The demo:
This is a very well designed demo. It has not a real story, but the
main theme are trains. There are very nice pictures of old
steam-powered locomotives, and the 3D-scenes are at a railway station
and in the train. You can even hear train-whistle and the sound of
the wheels on the rails in the music. This really adds much to the
feeling of the demo. The effects are well-synchronized, and theres
a good mixture between 2D and 3D-effect. Lens flares, blobs, photos
of the Cryonic guys morphing into each other, lots of animated
backgrounds, normal 3D,... Its all in there.
Although the code is not really powerfull, I really like this one
because it has excellent transitions. There is not a single effect
that is just dumped on the screen, its always connected to the rest
of the demo. For example, the demo starts with a pixeled picture of a
train at a station. Then you see some pixels fading to other colors,
but its hard too say what has changed, since you see still the same
train at the same station. Then the camera starts moving and you
realized this was a transition from a picture to a 3D-scene. Really
nice! Clearly these guys from Cryonics have spent much time on the
design.
For all people who think a transition equals a white flash, get
this one. For all other people, get it too if you dont have it,
youll like it!

I fell inlove with this tune the first moment i ran shine2 and got
that girl pic from Made thrown at me. Everything felt so right...
It was just one of those moments when you truly realize what the
scene is all about!
The reason i picked this one up is not that though... I was just
roaming through my songs directory and realized there was no radix!!!
So i picked up dreams2 CD and copied all i could find and put some of

Textmode Democompo 3
Its quite hard to get some idea into peoples heads after they
have chosen to be against it. you cant do anything decent in
textmode turns into its just another gfx mode after seeing a
decent demo in textmode. Thus I dont see any point anymore to try
to change peoples heads. Keep your eyes closed, see if I care..
My view about textmode is that its - really - just another mode,
but one that hasnt been used to its full extent. And this with the
tweaking limits Ive set in TMDC.
TMDC has - and has always had - perhaps too good prizes compared to
the level and number of demos attending. TMDC3 will probably be the
last tmdc if nothing special pops up like java or win NT console
ideas.
In TMDC1 you had to throw your entries by email TMDC2 had a ftp site
that almost worked, TMDC3 has a web site and ftp site with much
more bandwidth. the web upload does not work as I write this but
were looking into it.
