[37m [1;30m [62C [28C" [1mTrials And Tribulations [0m" [31m [1;30m [28CMonk ( [32mGirl [37m) [1;30m [62C I first met Pinguino about 3 years or so ago on #ansi.. She was hawki [69Cng the upcoming release of a comic called Tori Do #1, which turned out t [69Co be the first comic released by her company, Penguin Palace. Over the course of the next few months, somehow, Sabby, Maytrickz, Acidjazz, Pod, Jeepee, pinguino, and myself ended up on one of the several critically acclaimed "Swedish Chef" confs. Here, we had countless amounts of fun calling up various people and impersonating the Swedis [69Ch Chef. After those confs, we formed a somewhat, tightly knit group of #ansi go'ers, where we would all end up staying online for excessive amounts of time just talking to one another and occasionally the othe [69Cr folks that drifted through #ansi. About this time, I lost the internet for the first time, for 3 months [69C, and never got to speak to anyone for that time. After I got back on, [69Cthe first person to greet me, was pinguino. We have had countless talks about Penguin Palace, her life in general, and my life in general. Ju [69Cst, last sunday or so, we had talked about how I was going to turn gothic like and how she was really enjoying the role-playing game Vampire. I [69Cn tune, with that discussion, I also typed in the 3 poems I wrote about penguins for Penguin Palace. She enjoyed all three, and wanted me to ship them off to Aquis as fast as possible. We had enjoyed yet anothe [69Cr lovely chat, and sometime during one of the portions of this chat, we had decided, after asking Narcolept, to set up the Literature Divisio [69Cn in Girl. Well, about 2 days ago, I receive in the mail, Tori Do #1, some print [69Cs, and a couple other things from pinguino. I had a chance to look over them all and really, for the first time, noticed the talent that she had. Then Thursday, i logon to irc and what do i see, "Pinguino trys [69Cto kill herself", "Pinguino is fat", "Pinguino is a loser", etc. etc. Imagine my shock at first hearing she tried to commit suicide after I had just spoken to her that weekend, then hearing all of these doodleboys start to rag on her. Well, my whole view of the scene has changed since about 2 hours ago. [69C I used to think it was fun and people had a good time in it. Now, I hav [69Ce rethought that, and I really despise the scene for what it has become [69C. When people are able to just totally trash a human being for somethin [69Cg that they have done wrong and feel not even the slightest compassion [69Cfor them, they are just complete assholes. Most of the people I have spok [69Cen with over the years, turned out to be these people. I was amazed to h [69Cear such harsh words from people I thought of as cool. I feel that the sc [69Cene is a joke. Sure, we got our ansi, our vga, our ascii, and our literature, but the people within it have become complete jerks. In the old days, one could ask an artist for an ansi or ascii and sometimes you would get it, unless you were an idiot begging daily an [69Cd just popped into #ansi with the "gimme ansi" line. Now, you will be lucky to find an artist that draws in #ansi, that is willing to draw. This whole, "I am too good for you all" attitude is ruining the very place we have lived in for so long. The discussion held today, just completely made me agree with so many of the people I had disagreed w [69Cith over the years. It made me think about the current situation from an outside view rather than my shallow insider view and I feel like a fo [69Col for not listening to those people before. I feel that some of the peo [69Cple I can still look at in the channel, and be like, "you are cool", but most of them I just won't bother to talk to anymore. In fact, I might just hibernate once again from the scene as this incident has caused [69Cme to realize that it is such a joke and I have wasted too much of my ti [69Cme in it as it is. Nyt had a good comment in the discussiont though that [69C I was able to grab. suicide is selfish, but it's still a big fucking deal, when someone you care about tries it, come back and say what it's like. His whole comment is that you should say how you feel towards the concept of suicide, not make fun of the person that did it. That is h [69Cow I look at things and that is why I feel so many doodleboys are idiots [69C. All I can say is get well pinguino. --- monk greetz : to the old crew (sabby, maytrickz, acidjazz, pod, ky, pingui [69Cno, jeepee, enigmatic, and frontline), and to whodini, cash, eerie, and mistawho. also, greetz to all those that don't like suicide but don't rip apart [69C a person who tries to commit it. Just try to be considerate to the fact that something fucked up their life (in their mind) so bad that they [69Chad to do it. [1;30m [62C [23C" [1mExclusive Interview With Quisl [54Cing [0m" [31m [1;30m [7CSodium ( [32mAcrylic Weekly Supervisor and [51C Layout Manager [37m) [1;30m [62C [1mSo tell us a little bit about yourself. Perhaps your age, music [65Cpreference, [1mresidence, credit card numbers, etc. [0m" "Well Sodium, can I call you Na?" [1mSure. [0m" "I'm twenty, and currently a bachelor. Right now I'm listening to FTZ [69C (Produced by Malceum), but I suppose I'm into the 'alternative' stuff; techno, [69C house, industrial, some rap and jazz. I'm living in a fraternity right now [69C(Sigma Tau Gamma) here in 'Greek Town' at the University of Missouri at Columbi [69Ca." [1mAbout when did you get involved with the Art Scene? [0m" "Well Na, I started back in my tenth grade year, so about four years [69Cago in a little local art group called 'Crime'. I dunno what it stood for, bu [69Ct we made something up." [1mWhat medium did you use in the early days? [0m" "Well, I started out using Corel Draw 3.0 and then touching stuff up [69Cin Corel Paint. It was pretty primative stuff and I wasn't very good back the [69Cn. Someone gave me a copy of Photoshop after I failed miserably at trying ansi. [69C" [1mWhat do you use today to create your popular hi-resolution desig [65Cns? [0m" "Photoshop 4.0. 'It's the program of choice for anyone who's anybody. [69C' I think I'm someone, or so somebody said." [1mOk, now can you explain the whole Visigoth versus Quisling thing [65C to our newer [1mreaders? [0m" "Well, He and I used to be good friends and stuff. I wasn't too bothe [69Cred by his ego so much as his overwhelmingly negative outlook on life and his i [69Cndividual talents. Seemingly a contradiction in terms and all, but perhaps the [69C ego was just to cover overwhelming insecurity. But never the less, he and I were cool. Then I asked him to do some [69Cwork for m fraternity, namely to design a t-shirt for our philanthropy. So he [69Cwas all cool about that. I asked him about it one day and he just started ri [69Cpping on fraternities for no apparent reason." [1mOf course, frat-boys are useless. [0m" "So I kinda got really pissy with him and told him not to bother with [69C the t-shirt that I'd get it from someone else. (On ave [51Crage those in fraternities get a higher GPA than those not, and we do shitloads of community se [69Crvice.) So he got really defensive and pissy. After that it was all just dow [69Cn hill... And then I'm not sure what exactly sparked all of the back and forth [69C shit, oh yeah, he was getting really pissy with Hack about the bot taking him [69C off of it cause he deoped the bot once when they wouldn't op catbones... And so I kicked him from #acid and he got all pissed off that I wasn [69C't letting speak and I was taking away one of his most fundamental rights as a [69Cn individual, that of 'free speech'. So then I wrote that text file and stuff and it just got way out of [69Chand. That's about it. We just decided to leave each other alone. I'm so i [69Cncredibly busy now anyways that I don't have much time for the scene anymore." [1mYes, the Visigoth text file. Can you give us this jist of what i [65Ct said? [0m" "Basically some early quote from him regarding his insecurity. Then s [69Come stuff from him where he was threatening my life, over the fucking internet [69C no doubt. (He said) that he could do anything he wanted to me at any time and [69CI'd never know it was him nor suspect it. Some crap like that. You know Visi, [69Cking of the Underworld, the Godfather himself." [1mOk,.now shortly after this incident you were 'asked to leave Aci [65Cd Productions'. [0m [1mIf you don't mind me asking, what was [39Cthe main reason for your forced [0m [1mresignation? [0m" "The main reason. Okay. About six months prior to all of this Radman [69Cgave me a collection of .jpgs from some con. He wanted me to make some sort o [69Cf collage with 'em. Now he told me to put this last priority and that anything [69C else should come first (as far as graphics are concerned). So I did just [69Cthat, and I had plenty of work to do for other companies that [51CI was getting paid for. So then he finally asked me, just prior to being kicked out, if I still [69C had them and if they were done yet. I said I didn't and that they had been de [69Cleted. He asked me when I was going to tell him this and I said 'I dunno.' So [69Che got all pissed off and called me unreliable and said that I wasn't wanted an [69Cymore. [1mWhat is your current opinion of Acid Productions? [0m" "I really don't have one. I haven't looked at a pack in a long time. [69CRadman is a pretty pathetic leader, I mean releasing packs thr [51Cee weeks late is just pathetic. I don't think they released ontime at all while I was in t [69Che group. That's just lame. I understand that he has a 'life' and stuff, but s [69Chit, I've got a life and I'd still jabe time to do things like put a zip file [69Ctogether." [1mNow to move away from this subject. Who have been some primary i [65Cnspirations for your work as far as artists and music type stuff go? [0m" "To be totally honest, I don't get inspired by anything in particular [69C. ImageX has a really nice style and actually did some work for a page that I [69C'm going to be working on. However, his style does get a little bit old. Neve [69Cr the less, in all honesty, I'm rather self-inspired. [1mAlot of true talent and ideas come from within. [0m" "Add yet another member to the 'Quisling Fan Club' : Shadow of iCE. : [69C)" [1mWho do you see as powerful, reliable, hard working, people on th [65Ce scene? (group [0m [1mleaders, weekly magazine supervisors, [39Cetc.) [0m" "Woah, That's kinda hard to say. Well, Cat, just cause I know him per [69Csonally. Wired is a really hard working guy too. He's taking on the challenge [69C of designing a St. Louis web page for the city without living there yet [69C and without much help. But the page looks kick ass so far. Xten is reall [69Cy cool too and is a hard worker when he puts his mind to it. He just got a grap [69Chics job in D.C.. Considering that Acrylic is on it's 8th issu [51Ce you're doing pretty spiffy yourself. As far as others, I really don't know any newbies well eno [69Cugh, but from the oldskewl, MassDelusion, Anarchy, and Aphidtwix." "Besides all of that, Anarchy is just plain hot. :)" [1mWell, are you enjoying yourself in Twilight? [0m" "Well, I havne't had much time to do anything for it recently. I'm ha [69Crdly online at all much recently other than tonight. There jus [51Ct isn't a common drop point for art yet which makes it difficult, yet we do have a growing VGA s [69Ctaff. We're up to 3 now... :)" [51C [1mAs the new millenium approaches, what do you see as your future [65Con the scene? [0m" "Gone. I've already gone full time professional as far as art is conc [69Cerned. I'm in school for advertising and graphic art, the scene is just annoyin [69Cg now." [1mAnd finally, is there anything you'd like to shout out or whatev [65Cer? This is [0m [1myour free space. [0m" "Greetz. Shit, I don't know who reads this thing... :) HI MOM!!! I don't think she'll ever see that, but well you know. I g [69Cuess greetz to all the highrez people in iCE, ACiD, and Dark, [51Cand some of the guys on #ansi. I don't know many of these new kiddies and stuff but anyone w [69Cho thinks they know me or that we're aquantances or whatever insert your name [69Chere, ___________." [1mThanks for your time. I am sure the readers of Acrylic Weekly en [65Cjoyed getting to meet someone of your stature, and history, and fame, and bullshi. [69C. errr.. [1m benevolence. [0m" "Heh Heh. No problem. :)" [1mGood night. [0m" [1;30m [62C [23C" [1mRebuttals To That MayTrickZ Th [54Cing [0m" [31m [1;30m [7CSodium ( [32mAcrylic Weekly Supervisor and [51C Layout Manager [37m) [1;30m [62C [8CAlright. Last week I got into a heated arguement with [1mMayTric [69CkZ [0m, one of the more influential masters on #ansi, over the reason for my perm [69Canent ban from the channel. After recieving no suitable answers, [1mEmpty [64C [0m, a distributor for [1mAcrylic Weekly [0m, volunteered to do an interview with MayTr [61CickZ. Still trying to find some answers, I told Empty to bring up the issue of my ejecti [69Con from the channel. So anyway, as the story goes, the interview got to perso [69Cnnal for MayTrickZ and he left. Then this big arguement thing follows between [69Cme and the #ansi master because he tells me not to print his interview in th [69Ce magazine. [8CNow I released the whole thing in two files called [1macryl-mx.z [69Cip [0mand [1macry-mx!.zip [0m (they are the exact same thing). The respones I [61Crecieved were pretty balanced on both sides. Some people loved it, and some despise [69Cd it. I recieved some angry mail about it, so I chose the best three to be [69Canswered here. These three letters were the most thorough and planned out. [1;30m-------------------------------------------------------------- [62C------------------ [0mRebuttal Number One : [1mMaytrickz Well, I feel that i have to rebut this article that appeared in acry [69Clic #9. When empty asked me to do an interview, He told me that it would be about the scene and nothing more. That is how the interview went unt [69Cil he started with sodium. I simply answered that i will not bring personal issues into an inter [69Cview about the scene since they have nothing to do with each other. As yo [69Cu probably saw, he couldnt take that answer. This is what bothered me [69C. HE asked me to do an interview regarding the scene and then breaks in [69Cto his personal questions. I mean we all know that empty and sodium wer [69Ce in this together, that is why empty kept removing my bans on sodium. M [69Cy ban was for a reason, and other reasons. If i hadnt done it, I ass [69Cure you that another master woulda. example: This was from Napalm Death (nd) to me --------------------------- -> *MayTrickZ* I dont add anyone really.. and I take ALOT of action t [69Co people who takeover, not like other ops.. sodium would of been permbanned fr [69Com #ansi if it was up to me, he took over at least 10 times in the last 2 week [69Cs ... also, sodium has been EXTREMLY lame by joining ansi as "ANSIMANN" [69C and annoying people. ..on furthur note, I have removed empty from acid!ansi for insulted o [69Cne of my good freinds, MayTrickZ.. who is one of the main reasons i am wher [69Ce i am today in scene standards. Empty says that it is just because I am [69Ctrying to kiss mx's ass. But that is not true, I am more faithful to MayTric [69CkZ than i would be to empty, any day. -Napalm Death [ACiD!ANSi] --------------------------------------------------------------------- Empty thinks that everyone kisses my ass... Well guess what, if you [69Cdo, STOP IT. I dont need ass kissers. I know a lot of people on this ne [69Ct who DONT kiss my ass. Its not needed and i know that many people don [69Ct do it. You shouldnt be scared or intimidated by me, because there is no [69C reason to be. I just run #ansi, nothing more and nothing less. If [69Cyou have a problem with me or any of the masters, tell us about it. Don [69Ct go and release all your hostilities at once on one person. There is no reason for it. In conclusion, this interview was a complete setup to just get some answers and release it to the public. People have to realize that it [69C is irc...so what you got banned or kicked from a channel, people get ov [69Cer it. If you are strung up on being banned or kicked, then i suggest getting off the net and spending some quality time with a chick or wi [69Cth your REAL LIFE friends, i do....its a lot of fun...trust me MayTrickZ [1;30m-------------------------------------------------------------- [62C------------------ [0mRebuttal Number Two : [1mVyking [1;30m [62C [1;30m [34m vyking's response to the interview with maytr [57Cickz [30m [1;30m [62C [1;30m [0m [1;30m [1mNOTE: [0mThe views expressed here in [36mno way [37m reflect [51C that of [36mgirl [37m. [9CI'm doing this entirely on my own. [5CAfter reading the interview with MaytrickZ, I was rather shocked. I've never seen MayTRicKZ get angry at anyone. Be it in [36mirc [62C [37m, [36mbbs [37m, or [36mwhatever [37m, he's always been a great help. [5CMX used to co for a board in our area code. I was a newbie putz, but he still acted cool to me. Other people in the area had an " [67C [36mELITE [37m" attitude. Not MX. Before BBSs and shit, I didn't know him from a [69Chole in the wall. I've [36mnever [37m met him in person, [36mnor [37m [49C have I ever spoken to him on the phone. [5CI don't know him well, but I can tell you this: Every time I've [70Chad a problem with [36mLinux [37m, he'd [36malways [37m come running [49Cto the rescue. He's taken [36mhis own time to help [37mme make my system more secure. Also [59C, take a look at the script that he wrote. It has a large amount of [36mflood prot [64Cection [37m. He obviously tries to defend himself and others for [36mlame ass irc [64Cflooders [37m. [5CNow, as far as [36mMayTriCkZ [37m not wanting to speak about the [60C incident in #ansi, I can't blame him for not wanting to discuss it! He knew he was be [69Cing interviewed for an [36mEMag [37m. Now tell me something, would yo [59Cu want the [36mentire [37m ansi scene to know your private/personal matters? [36mWhy might have MayTriCkZ been soo pissed? [37mWell... Just [60C look at what was said by empty. MX said he didn't want to talk about it. Empty [69C then persists... and persists.. and persists... Think about it. [36mS [64Codium [37mand [36m Empty [37m are both closely tied to Acrylic. It strikes me as [59C though [36mmx [37m saw a trap. That's what I'd think. It's incredibly easy to take someo [69Cne's simple, honest words and turn them. If [36mmx [37msaid something [59C slightly different than he meant, it could [36measily [37mbe torn apart. [59CAlso, when you do an interview, its incredibly easy for a person to add in comment [69Cs. I could take that same interview and make [36mEmpty [37mand [36mSo [54Cdium [37mlook like two asses. I could just as easily do the same to [36mMayTricKz [37m. [5CAfter an interview is over, the [36minterviewer [37m has all the [60C time in the world to add [36m witty [37mcomments. [5CWhen reading an interview like that one, you have no idea how muc [70Ch time has passed. At the end of the first part it says [36mMayTRic [64CkZ left [37m. As a reader, we have no idea [36mhow much time elapsed [37m betwee [59Cn the last thing that [36mmx [37m said, and the time he left. [36m [37mIf they cut the article right there, they would have h [59Cad a good story in their favor. [36mInstead [37m, they go on to show their [36mc [54Childish [37mbehavior. If I were an [36mOP [37m, and I was in that situation, I would have b [59Ceen a bit agitated myself, and probably would have [36mbanned [37mthem both for a wh [59Cile, too. [5CJust look at the things that [36mSodium [37mand [36mEmpty [51C [37msaid and did.... [1m"...afraid of the truth..." [0m or [1m"...just do this for ple [57Casure...sick fucking [1m bastard." [0m That would get me pretty angry also. [11C [1m [1m [30m" [37mI enter #ansi and parade my success... [30m" [0m Su [46Cccess? Hmm.. I must have missed something. If he was trying to successfully act like a baby [69C, he does it very well as he continues on... [1;30m" [37mINTERVIEW WITH MAYTRICKZ ACRYLIC #9#$$ [30m" [0m Repe [48Cat that 9 more times, and you have what [36m Sodium [37mwas saying. That alone is [36mfloo [54Cding [37mand should constitute a [36mban [37mof SOME sort. [1;30m" [37mTHE TRUTH ABOUT MX [30m" [0mI find that an interest [48Cing comment. If he's referring to learning about MX's daily life ... Yeah .. We get the truth abou [69Ct MX. If he's referring to anything else: Nothing else was said. The rest of the article is just lameness. On both sides. [1;30m [62C [1;30m [34mNow, please remember. I'm not trying to side with a [57Cny one. I'm simply [30m [1;30m [34mmaking an effort to potray another side to the story. [57C If Acrylic can [30m [1;30m [34mslander MayTriCkZ, then Vyking can analyze the interv [57Ciew :) jpepe@pb.net [0m [1;30m [1;30m [62C [1;30m-------------------------------------------------------------- [62C------------------ [0mRebuttal Number Two : [1mMind Bender Dear Acrylic, I am writing in response to the Acrylic Special Release Interview [69Cwith Maytrickz. And I am going to tell you right from the start, that I fe [69Cel that Maytrickz is generally correct in his actions. First off, I think that the whole interview was silly. Why? It app [69Cears as if empty entrapped Maytrickz into an interview under false pretenses. [69C It seems quite clear to me that he knew right from the start that he was [69C going to bring up the issue with Maytrickz. ok.. and now what about this stuff with sodium, erasing him from phlome, a [69Cnd why wont you talk to him? Empty knew that it would come up sooner or later because he knew h [69Ce was going to bring it up sooner or later. This is clearly not a public is [69Csue, but a private one between the parties involved, which in this case is Sod [69Cium (yourself) and Maytrickz. What has this got to do with a Maytrickz in [69Cterview, or an Acrylic article at that? You can hardly imagine that the editor [69C of a Metropolitan Daily paper would be proud to display a brand new newspa [69Cper with the headline, "Editor gets dumped by his girlfriend!". This is o [69Cbviously his own business, not the public's, and the same goes for your being [69Cremoved from pHLOMe. i dont discuss personal issues in interviews This is a perfectly decent response, in fact I commend it. I probably would've responded the same myself. As I said before, it does not bel [69Cong in an interview. so this is considered personal? even though it was in the sce [69Cne, and had nothing really to do out side of it? This is clearly an instigation.. and a sign that empty wants to conti [69Cnue, even stress this matter as the main part of the interview. Who cares [69Cwhether it was in an ansi scene channel? That's really stretching it. What if [69C I tell someone that I have a fatal disease in a scene channel? D [69Coes that mean that it's a scene issue? Hardly. did sodium do something personal to you or your honor? This is no longer an interview; this is a trial. Why don't we get som [69Ceone to cross-examine the witness, empty? When I got to this point in the [69Carticle, I was tempted to delete it then and there.. it disgusted me immensely [69C then, as it does now. like i said....i wont discuss this ( leave ) MayTrickZ has left channel #maytrickz. So he leaves the channel, which is the perfectly correct thing to do. [69C If someone is practically argueing with you over an issue which does not [69C need to be publically discussed, of course you will leave, if not just to [69Cprevent further problems from occuring. -> "maytrickz!@*" acrylic reader's are really gunna love that last pa [69Crt... about the killing empty Excuse me? How do you know what I "love"? From the last few sentences [69C on I have found the article to slowly become an immature garble of intense questioning, and now, threats. What next? -> "maytrickz!@*" haha.. always ignoring me.. wont answer questions. [69Csounds like your fucking afraid of the truth. you just do this for pleasu [69Cre.. sick fucking bastard [56C- First off, ignoring is the best solution in this matter. Anyone who h [69Cas to resort to "sick fucking bastard" to get a point across should be igno [69Cred, at any rate. Second off, what is he supposed to do? Continue with a one- [69Csided arguement which he does not want to participate in, in the first plac [69Ce? How is he "afraid of the truth" because he doesn't want to yell back and [69Cforth like an idiot? (something empty has so prominantly demonstrated) "empty!empty@*fastlane.net" he just banned me from #ansi amen. From this point on, I don't approve of Maytrickz swearing back and [69C forth. But obviously he became upset with the accusations and the immature / [69Cmsg's. If I were in his shoes, I would have probably just /ignore'd empty, b [69Cut then again, what would empty have done then? Proceeded to yell "Maytrickz [69Cis afraid to talk to me.. he's afraid of the truth!" or even better yet, [69C he'd probably continue to /msg maytrickz insults repeatedly, then print it [69C in the acrylic newsletter as a victory trophy. "Look guys, I outswore Maytrickz!" As for the actual reasons why Sodium (you) were banned, I do not k [69Cnow. They were not published in the article, but I have seen Maytrickz lat [69Cely and he does not often ban for his own purposes, if at all. No doubt it ha [69Cd something to do with making #ansi a better place to be, rather than t [69Che all "uNF" channel. All I can say is that I hope that you never employ empty in the se [69Crvices of Acrylic. You do not need someone like that to improve your magazin [69Ce, because in fact he has deeply tarnished my opinion of it. To publish something such as this is almost comedic. In conclusion, I stick by all of the things that I have said here [69C(well, obviously ;), and if you disagree with me, then that's your perogativ [69Ce. I do not expect any flames or death threats in response to this letter, [69C so hopefully I will get none :> But please, take what I have said into consideration, and hopefully nothing like this will ever be printed i [69Cn such a respected art scene publication again. Sincerely, Mind Bender / Analogue [Twilight] [1;30m-------------------------------------------------------------- [62C------------------ [0mThe Big [1mSodium [0m Response (Which m [32Cay not be the views of Acrylic Weekly) : [8CHa. That's right. It was a setup you geniuses, anyone could see t [73Chat. It's only purpose was to find out why MayTrickZ banned me since he wo [69Culd not tell me why. You have uncovered nothing, and It's my magazine not a d [69Caily metro paper, so you'll get what I say you'll get. You get this thing [69Cfree so stop complaining. [8CAnd I thought it was funny so I published it in MY magazine. This [73C isn't yours, it's mine. End of story. sodium( [1macrylicWEEKLY [0m) [1;30mN4.
